New Program Provides An Umbrella Certification Scheme While Also Accounting for Country-Specific SchemesCabiate (CO), Italy, November 28, 2018 — today UL announced it is an accredited independent third-party certification body in accordance to FEMB level, the European program for sustainability certification of office and contract furniture in interiors. Through FEMB level, UL can now help European manufacturers demonstrate product sustainability while enabling end-users to make more informed sustainable product selections. Similar to the BIFMA LEVEL Certification program, Europe’s level Certification evaluates the environmental and social sustainability of office furniture products, but is tailored to the European market. MARIETTA, GA., October 16, 2018 — In response to a growing number of incidents and injuries that occur each year with outdoor furniture usage, UL today announced the development of a rigorous science-based safety certification document for outdoor furniture to help retailers and consumers identify safer furniture. Data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission reveals that nearly three million outdoor furniture products were recalled between 2016 and 2018 due to safety risks and problems. [...]
UL has partnered with the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) in creating a “Product Stability UL Verified” Mark. This Mark will help consumers identify products with stability marketing claims verified by UL.
