August Update to EPA Formaldehyde Emission Standards for Composite Wood Products

On August 8th, EPA announced a direct final rule allowing manufacturers of TSCA Title VI compliant composite wood products to begin labeling products as compliant starting on August 25, 2017.  The rule provides flexibility to manufacturers of composite wood panels, and products utilizing these panels, to begin following the labeling guidelines of TSCA Title VI voluntarily before the December 12, 2017 compliance date, if they are in compliance with the regulation. As a reminder, a separate amendment, that would have extended compliance dates by 90 days, was withdrawn on July 6, 2017. [...]

New Effective Dates for TSCA Title VI Implementation

  New Proposed Effective Dates for TSCA Title VI Implementation Composite wood products, including hardwood plywood, medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particleboard are used in a variety of products such as flooring, furniture, cabinetry and building materials. Five Years of Waste Diversion at the Phoenix Open

UL GREENGUARD Certification Now Included in EPA Standards for US Federal Government

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced that UL GREENGUARD Certification is now included in the EPA’s Recommendations of Specifications, Standards, and Ecolabels for US federal government procurement. These recommendations are the result of a multi-year stakeholder process, jointly led by the EPA and General Services Administration (GSA), and are designed to put a more formal and rigorous process around identifying standards and certifications that comply with the federal government’s sustainable purchasing requirements. As we have previously mentioned, the president’s Executive Order 13693 requires that 95% of all federal purchasing be environmentally preferable products and services that meet these standards. [...]
