In order to sell a product containing composite wood in the state of California, compliance with the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) is required. Designed to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products and any finished products that contain them, the ATCM sets forth emissions limits for hardwood plywood (HWPW), particle board (PB), and medium density fiberboard (MDF).
