UL Expands ISTA Packaging Tests Available for Retailers and Manufacturers

UL has added several International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) testing protocols to our services, so that retailers and manufacturers can assess the security of their goods in transit. UL can now perform eight tests for product packaging to help retailers and manufacturers reduce product loses and product claims, save money by avoiding product losses, and reduce customer complaints from damaged products.

UL’s lab in Cabiate, Italy is recognized by ISTA to provide the necessary documentation and test reports for the Transit Tested Certification to appear on packaging. UL can test a variety of packaging for products including glassware and household items, ready to assemble furniture, and other furnishings. We are recognized to test to the following protocols:

Protocol category: SERIES 1 – NON-SIMULATION INTEGRITY PERFORMANCE TESTS:

Procedure 1A: Packaged-Products weighing 150 lb (68 kg) or less

Procedure 1B: Packaged-Products weighing over 150 lb (68 kg)

Procedure 1C: Extended Testing for Individual Packaged-Products weighing 150 lb (68 kg) or less

Procedure 1D: Extended Testing for Individual Packaged-Products weighing Over 150 lb (68 kg)

Procedure 1E: Unitized Loads

Protocol category: SERIES 2 – PARTIAL SIMULATION PERFORMANCE TESTS:

Procedure 2A: Packaged-Products weighing 150 lb (68 kg) or less

Procedure 2B: Packaged-Products weighing over 150 lb (68 kg)
